Next weekend marks the 20th Anniversary of Lollapalooza, the festival that brought the likes of Sonic Youth, Pavement, Body Count and countless others to parts of America more comfortable with the likes of Loverboy and Firehouse. Even in retrospect, the festival seems crazy (Wikipedia the Jim Rose Circus Sideshow when you get a second). Lolla has become stationary in the last few years, taking up residence in Grant Park in Chicago, and its lineup has becomes lightly more ‘mainstream’ (or has the mainstream become more alternative? I GOT YOUR EGG RIGHT HERE, CHICKEN), but in honor of its trailblazing spirit, we’re presenting straight-up Alternative Nation classics, culled from the fest’s early lineups, on sale for $4.99.
