The wait is over — eMusic’s Best of 2009 is complete! So now’s your chance to tell us what we got wrong and who we might have missed! We’d also like to know if any albums on here sparked your interest.
Monday and Tuesday we’ll be unveiling the results of our member poll. If you think this was unpredictable, wait till you see how that one’s shaping up…
Having taken comfort, if not credit, for a list with multiples of 12 in the previous post, I’ll take comfort, if not credit, for the use of the word “member” above. This was the subject of my other lengthy rant last year, and I’m truly delighted to see it.
BTW, this list brings to TWO the number of records on the list I own (Pains and Passion Pit). I feel profoundly uncool, and oddly comfortable with that.

I take delight in the use of the word “member” above simply because it sounds naughty. Especially when wrapped in quotes.
It’s funny, on paper Girls and The XX seem to be bands I’d constantly have on repeat, however I’m having a hard time getting into both. Maybe I need to spend some more time with them? I dunno. I do know I need to get my hands on that Bazan record. Not sure why I’ve hesitated – a couple times on mixtapes or on blogs a song has caught my ear and I’m surprised that it’s him.
He even has a beard!
I, obviously, feel very passionately about the Bazan. And I want to add that I was pretty indifferent toward Pedro the Lion — so that’s definitely not a prerequisite for liking this album. Musically, they’re worlds apart.
i didn’t think curse your branches was THAT good, but i liked the perspective, having undergone some of the same cahnges myself (sans destructive alcoholism).
There are litmus tests on “best of” polls. Sonic Youth doesn’t always put on a winner, but from various other end of year polls suggest “Eternal” is one of their best of their career, and it’s on E-music. Yet not in the top 60? I don’t think it is the best of the year, but it certainly is in the top 60 without a doubt. Missing that says quite a bit on this poll’s lack of validity.
