hidden treasures on emusic

They’re the ones that got away — the records that, for some reason, slipped through the cracks while other albums got the hype, the praise, the buzz. And all this week on eMusic, we’ll be showcasing records we love that somehow got passed over. We start today with overlooked indie, and will continue throughout the week, leaving no genre unturned.
Which, of course, raises the question: what are your overlooked favorites?

One consistent favorite of 2009 for me is Perkasie’s self-titled album (http://tinyurl.com/yg5t89k). Old-timey bubblegum-baroque folk pop with a rockin’ piano and dualing boy/girl vocals (see standout track “Down By the Riverside”)…throw a dose of Decemberists (especially on “The Fightin’ 13th”) in with a little of Erin McKeown’s joyful sass (see “Girl Upon Your Arm”) with a bit of gospel-infused punk (had it existed in 1930) and country twilight porch music (see “Beers & Grills”) and then up the energy to 110% and you might have something similar, only better. I really can’t speak highly enough of this band.
I’m getting the Oops! page for the link (seems like the page is hidden from me? Is this another US only thing?).
here’s the UK /EU/CA version!
There will be a different hub every day, each featuring different albums.
thanks Joe.
I’m getting an Oops! page for both links. Was the UK/EU/CA version supposed to be available to Canadians?
Moose’s XYZ LP easily the most overlooked album of the 90s. It’s so overlooked it’s out of print. :-<
