important!! 17dots maintenance

Hey guys. So Monday morning from 10am – 11am, 17dots will be down for routine maintenance. We know that the timing on this is not the greatest, so we thought we’d warn you about it now.
There’s a reason: As you’ve probably noticed, the site has been running more slowly due to the increased traffic. This upgrade will make the site more stable, and will update certain features of WordPress. We just wanted to let all of you know that this was going to be happening in advance, and we are hoping to have the site back up after maintenance as quickly as possible.
a year ago you would have crashed in the first hour. i guess the penalty for a more stable blog is more … stuff… to read.
Yeah — must be tough for all of IT folks to deal with that increased traffic from those thousands of customers coming to the blog just gushing with happiness over having their downloads significantly slashed in return for getting access to that wonderful Sony back catalog (hooray, I can download the Dixie Chicks now!). I can just hear your MBA biz dev people hashing it out with your CEO: “let’s devalue the service for our longtime loyal customers AND double prices for them at the same time AND lie to them about what’s really happening! it’s a business model that can’t lose!” Bye-bye Emusic, you won’t be having to deal with “increased traffic” for much longer, I’m afraid.

Are you still doing this, because I can’t get in and haven’t been able to since 2 am, June 16. It’s 3:30 am and I am still getting that annoying maintenance message, and I was about to download something as my stupid downloads refresh today. What the hell?
