Coincidence: I just downloaded the Max Romeo disc on the Blood & Fire label (Open the Iron Gate: 1973 — 1977). On first listen, it’s among the hardest-hitting discs I’ve hard on the label (in terms of its lyrics), and I love the expressiveness and cadence of his voice.

I love that record — some amazing songs on there.

Yeah. So bummed that Blood & Fire is essentially out-of-business.

Actually, I’ve never heard Romeo’s supposed classic, War Inna Babylon. Got to track it down somewhere.

The track I play on the show is from War Inna Babylon. It is, indeed, amazing.

I was surprised by how good that Max Romeo album was when I downloaded it. You should also check out Children of Jah – another hidden Blood & Fire gem.

@Joe; very happy to see Halo Benders on your playlist. They were one of the reasons I joined eMusic. If you are going to have them on your catalogue then this must be good. I love the way Doug and Calvins vocals intwine, they complement each other so brilliantly.

Yeah, Children of Jah is excellent; one of my favorite Blood & Fire releases, for the vocal harmonies.

Everything from Blood & Fire is top-notch. Download them while you still can (sadly, RIP to B&F).

I have almost everything from the label….I there are only nine albums left that I haven’t gotten yet. Guess I need to get cracking on the rest.
