Dear Dark Energy,
I love you. I know. It probably seems too soon. It did to me at first, too, but I can’t get you out of my head. Last night I told myself: “No more. There’s more to life.” But then just this morning there I was on the treadmill, lagging on my run, searching for a spark to help me finish. I flipped my iPod to “Cosmos” and suddenly everything was perfect. I would have felt guilty if it didn’t feel so good.
We’ve known each other for a while, Dark Energy. It was a year ago that I first stumbled across “Cosmos” and “Street Thunder.” Todd and I sent you an email — remember? You never wrote back. But I forgave you.
Did you write “Death on Four Wheels” for me, perchance? Was that your way of saying that you would die without me? Because I TOTALLY feel the same and have been so scared to say it. I feel so liberated now! OMG!
I know you probably have to go and save the universe or something, but, Dark Energy, can I talk about your namesake first? Pretty please? It’s my favorite. My absolute favorite. I listen to it and know that we are invincible, that though you haven’t responded to my texts (What’s your Twitter ID? I couldn’t find you) you feel the same way.
Write soon, Dark Energy. Or don’t. It’s cool. Either way I know you’re thinking of me.
