Over the weekend, the new Breeders EP, Fate to Fatal, hit the site (a total surprise to us) and OMG is it incredible. I count Pod and Pacer among my all-time favorite records (they certainly rank among my most-listened), and Fate to Fatal scratches that itch exactly. The title track is Amps-y, a little fuzzy rave-up; “The Last Time” is this harrowing ballad sung by Mark Lanegan (nice surprise); “Chances Are” is this gorgeous ballad in the vein of the wonderful “Off You“; and the closing “Pinnacle Hollow” begins with a melancholy little guitar part and just when you feel okay with a mournful instrumental on a four-song Breeders EP (and really I was!) in comes Kim’s voice, sounding dustier and sadder than ever and your heart will leap from its chest. I love this.
Great news. Do you happen to know if emusic will be getting the Serge Gainsbourg reissue currently out on Light in the Attic label? I am pretty sure all their other titles are already here.

Wow, agreed. This Breeders EP is AMAZING. Loved the last LP too, so verrrry much looking forward to what’s next.
