Confession time. While yes, we are clearly the most knowledgable people about everything, sometimes we get some help. Both the Aquarius (especially for doom metal and Krautrock) and Other Music newsletters are particular in-house favorites — we discover a ton of great music thanks to the super smart and sincere folks at both stores.

This week’s Other newsletter included an unbelievably glowing endorsement of a “lost” ’70s Spanish folk album by Pep Laguarda, called Brossa D’ahir. We decided to put it on today and, well, holy shit. Picture all the sad Neil Young songs done in a raspy, Spanish voice with lots of weirdo ’70s accompaniments. And all of it just spellbindingly beautiful. (While it was playing, I got IMs from four different people asking what it was: always a good sign.)

Download it, save it for later, whatever it is you wanna do. But definitely give it a listen. We are all instant fans over here.

This is officially my Lost Gems week. First Rodriguez, then Whistler, Chaucer, Detroit, and Greenhill, and now Pep Laguarda–which, by the way, is quite a nice recommendation!

I didn’t know that US3 was still around! I used to play along with Cantaloop on my trumpet all the time in high school.

OH!! A little shout out/recommendation for Impossible Hair’s debut album “What Is the Secret of Impossible Hair” (http://www.emusic.com/album/Impossible-Hair-What-Is-the-Secret-of-Impossible-Hair-MP3-Download/11411095.html) that just showed up today. The singer is my next door neighbor. :) They’re super fun indie-rock and have played with Spinto Band and Oxford Collapse, and the album was recorded by their good friend Roman Kuebler of the Oranges Band. Check it out!
