Collectively, we love the Golden Silvers, a young UK band, about as much as someone possibly could. Their debut will be arriving April 27th, and though we have yet to hear it in full, we are certain it will be stupendous. We nearly had these guys for eMusic Selects back in October (just to show you how gray our fandom is), and we’ll be gladly promoting the hell out of them come next month. Above is their song “Magic Touch” performed live. Below, a video for the first single from their record, called “True Romance.”

Loving that first single. I like the uptempo U.K. 80s vibe. Can’t place it, tho. Tears for Fears? Maybe.

This will be on eMusic, you say?

Listening to “True Romance” made me think of Duran Duran’s “Girls On Film”. Anyone else? Is my beer messing with my ears?

It seems that, 7 years after James Murphy warned us in “Losing My Edge” about our “borrowed nostalgia for the unremembered ’80s,” we still haven’t gotten over it.

Love the Mod-ness of Golden Touch, but “True Romance” was a little too MTV circa 1986 for my liking.
