indie rock is crush city
04Feb09
Indie rock is crush music, so with Valentine’s Day approaching, we thought it only appropriate to survey some of our favorite artists about their first crushes. The responses were endearing and (not surprisingly) very relatable. You can read their recollections here!

Ooh, I thought I was totally alone listening to Frontier Ruckus.
My crush of the moment is She Swings, She Sways: Wasted Love Songs. Could not be more appropriate for this month. If you aren’t pulled in by What I Wouldn’t Do, take a Listen to Highway, or Ryan’s Song. This is not only excellently composed music, but the lyrics are thoughtful and the overall re-playability is high.
Can someone please get the guy from Sprengjuhöllin to write some short stories or something? His little tale was brilliant, and as Scandanavian as Miss Schmilla’s Feeling for Snow!
That was indeed very sweet. My favorite:
“In 3rd grade, I had the biggest crush on Matt Bordin. So I pantsed him in the school cafeteria…”
I was interested in which people chose to mention their crush by name. I would totally do that in this case. We should follow up in a year with folks who mentioned a specific person and see what came of this!
Ahhhhh we’ve all been at the point where 5 shots of vodka is a reason to call the crush
and now thanks to Sprengjuhöllin I know that I must be Scandinavian.
(As I type this a song is playing that makes me feel like crushes do when they are revealed to be for naught Polly Paulusma – Day One (from “Fingers & Thumbs”) sniff
)
