Joe, I’ve been meaning to download Orange Juice / Edwyn Collins for sometime. Hearing the track on your playlist prompted me to grab them again. Last year I saw a really good doco on BBC 4 on Postcard Records – the twee pop label out of Glasgow that pretty much inspired the whole scene of bands to come including Teenage Fanclub, Mogwai, Belle & Sebastian. Worth tracking down (sorry I can’t remember the title of the film).
That Killers song is quite good. I want to hate them (much like your comment on U2) but find myself really liking their song writing. Sam’s Town is brilliant.
I need to track down that documentary – it sounds like something I’d love. All of that Postcard stuff is so great — it’s been fun to watch it slowly creep back into vogue.
And the Killers — Brandon Flowers is the best bad lyricist around. I love that band.
Yeah, you know you gotta help me out
Yeah, oh don’t you put me on the back burner
hehe
I managed to find it with an article on the BBC website.
