HA HA I was confused by the pepsodent commercial tagged at the beginning of the show from the show previous to yours HA

Yeah, I noticed that when I listened this morning. The vagaries of internet radio!

Where else but on Yancey’s show are you going to hear AfroPop one week and Metal interspersed with Jazz, New Wave and more the next. My Coworkers are looking at me funny as I headbang to Rotten Sound.
I think the VU song was a great intro “It took us a while to get here” and the show had come on late, was this coincidence or did you play the song because the previous show ran long?

Glad you liked it! I was especially proud of this week’s. That Rotten Sound record is great.

And the VU thing just ended up working out that way – we just send in the MP3s, I had no idea the show was going to be slightly pre-empted. Coincidence makes for good comedy!

I’m sorry joe I just realized it was your show today, not yancey’s DUH Still Much fun it was :)
Yes it worked out well the coincidence :)

thanks for the kind words, nergal, but those accolades belong to joe, not me!

Yeah, Baroness! Georgia alt-metal represent, represent!

Well, it’s definitely changeable. I lost my lust for metal sometime around the age of 15. I blame Nirvana which gave me grunge and the discovery (rediscover?) of new wave.

Sara, I was about 5 years older than you when Nevermind came out, and I felt the same. Most of the metal on the radio and MTV was so bad at that time. I’m not a metal expert, but some of the new bands (like Mastodon, High on Fire and Baroness) seem to have grown up listening to the same SST classics that St. Kurt was a fan of.

For some reason I got a 404 error when I tried to listen to this show today. So I listened to Joe’s last show (with the Top Choice Clique interview). I quite enjoyed it, but I have to say that I hated that Long Blondes song.
