That Dan Deacon/Liam Lynch video cracks me up every time and I’ve probably watched 50 times. It is so bizarre.
i saw it for the first time a few weeks ago. none other than deastro screened it for at about 4am after the selects show. we watched it three straight times. i watch it almost daily since. amazing.
THE ADVANTAGE.
OH MY GOD, THE ADVANTAGE.
Is it too embarrassing of an admission for me to tell everyone that I love this band?
Seriously — for awhile, I didn’t really know what to do about the fact that the most-scrobbled band in my Last.fm profile was an, um, Nintendo cover band.
I still sing along with the Scary Mansion Song (and it been in heavy rotation since it was a freebe) if you don’t have it get it.
Jayson no embarrassment mine of there’s has been the SMB2 haunted mansion theme.
Great Playlist Yancey, I liked the collage at the begining and it was great to see my idea about Mingering Mike being good for mixing be put into action (no I’m not claiming the idea as mine only that I too had the idea)
and of Course Stone Roses Waterfall is awesome and will forever be one of my favs
My favorites are probably “Contra - Snowfields,” “Castlevania 3 - Evergreen,” or “Bubble Bobble,” which I swear to god sounds like some early Built to Spill instrumental (variations on a theme today.) But seriously, I fell into a Nintendo-music rabbit hole when I was doing research for an article, and now am sort of obsessed.
LOL (BTW it was SMB3-Underworld I have) and now I have the Zelda too, Also (so far) I downloaded just based on this weeks show the Gun Club and Nina Nastsia songs.
Go Yancey this Show is probably redeeming my love of “College Radio”
If anyone needs the Album Art for Nina’s Album (eMusic doesn’t have the art for it and I’m obessed with collecting the album covers for my MP3s) http://fat-cat.co.uk/fatcat/release.php?id=197
God I love the Stones Roses
I know! The Stone Roses are just so amazing. I should play them every week, just as a rule.
So next week’s show is going to be amazing. We are having a special surprise guest DJ — a band that I just talked on the phone with for an hour. It’s going to be extremely good.
As a person who just heard/eavesdropped on said hourlong conversation, I can attest/affirm. It was awesome even hearing it just from one end.
Mr Airplane Man, nice! One of my first emusic finds that made me extremely happy. Heard about MAM on NPR showcase, looked it up on EMU and there it was….
Happiness.
At some point, everyone needs to watch the Poney Part 1 video on the Vitalic page
Thanks for making it possible for me to post on 17dots again. I liked this last show quite a lot. I’m interested in exploring more Scratch Acid and Gun Club. That Field tracks was particularly great.
For what it’s worth, I would be quite content should Man/Miracle end up as a Selects at some point in the near future. I’m just sayin’.
feedback like that is good to hear. one *could* be under the impression that part of the reason why so many unsigned artists get played in these episodes is to gauge everyone’s reaction to them, as they might be under selects consideration. they *could* draw that conclusion…
The correlation *had* crossed my mind…
This show made a breeze out of my commute. The set with Scary Mansion and Verbena was particularly great.
Speaking of emusic selects… man/ miracle was a great song, i liked the french miami song too.
“I am Petagon” i wizard. Downloaded it a few weeks ago and love it.
Dan Deacon is wizard. What a nut case.
uh… too many wizards, not enough spells.
