Ok! So, show #1 is in the books, so let’s talk about how you go about hearing it! There are four ways:

1) You subscribe to the podcast in iTunes. As of now, 17 Dots on EVR is not officially in the iTunes podcast library, so to listen, simply click on the “Advanced” menu in iTunes, choose “Subscribe to podcasts” and then paste in this URL:

http://www.eastvillageradio.com/podcasts/19925/125.xml

Hit OK, and you’ll start downloading the show.

2) The second way is you click on the following m3u link, which will open up a stream in your media player: LINK! Be warned that for the first show, the show before ran long, so our set doesn’t begin until about six or seven minutes in, and is cut off prematurely. The podcast is just fine, though.

3) If you don’t like fancy podcasting or streaming, you can download the sucker by right-clicking this link. You’ll start downloading a rather large file that has the same timing issues as the m3u, but it’s another option.

4) You can also hit the EVR site on Friday’s between 6am – 8am EST and listen live! Any and all means are welcome, and so easy thanks to East Village Radio, who are rad x infinity.

Hope ya’ll dig it!

    Thank you! I appreciate that.

I listened to the show this morning and really liked it! There was quite a few songs that grabbed me *cough* getansweringmachineforemusicselects *cough*, but Future Islands grabbed me and squeezed. My first thought was CYHSY meets Electric Six. I listened to “Follow You” at least three times.

Excellent idea guys – I’m really looking forward to more!

Cool but I was disappointed I didn’t get to hear you speak!

I talked a lot through there! Every 20 minutes or so.

And Amy, glad you dug so much. Future Islands are amazing — and on the site — as are Answering Machine. Aside from the single I played, we have their whole discography on the site.

Um. Maybe I downloaded the wrong thing. D’oh. But pleased to hear it.

Hey Yancey, the link in option 3 seems to be broken (points to “http://17dots.com/2008/09/19/17-dots-on-evr-how-to-listen/<a href=” which looks like maybe part of the url is missing?). And yep, I was being a lazy-ass and not bothering feeding things to itunes, which was how I found out :) Not complaining, you understand, just so’as you know.

I listened to the first hour today on my commute home from work. I thought it was rather interesting to note that for some reason it sounded to me like most of the pieces in the first hour were in the same key and had very similar tempos. Was that on purpose.

Overall it blended well but there were a few times where I really wished for something that broke it up so it wouldn’t feel monotonous….

Still have a second hour to listen too though so maybe that will help. Definitely heard a band or two I will be investigating. Particularly Wilderness and Superpitcher….I’ll let you know more about what I think after I listen to the second half.
