hi! *tap tap tap*

Hello!!
So. My name is Jayson Greene, and I’m the “new Todd,” in eMusic office parlance. If you Google my name, (…..not like I’ve done that — ever) you will find that there is a lead singer of a “screamo” (scare quotes firmly in place) band called The Panthers with my name, even with my unnecessarily vowel-heavy spelling. I am not this guy. I swear.
Since starting at eMusic (almost a month ago) I have been gorging myself on new music with a voraciousness that would stun these guys. I hardly know where to begin — I’ve listened to Opeth, Mahler, Guided By Voices, and Jerry Lee Lewis in equal measure. It’s been a pretty crazy, heady time, and these are just some thoughts that have been floating through my fevered brain while other people do things like mind incoming traffic:
Hippie minimalist Lou Harrison was a beautiful man. He wrote pieces for gamelan ensembles, string quartets, and other groups of instruments, and they all radiate a contemplative peacefulness that only seems more right when you discover that Lou Harrison, in person, was a perfect combination of Robert Wyatt and Santa Claus.
Consider:

Lou! (the guy at the top of the post)
A collection of his string quartets and gamelan pieces that we have on eMusic is currently on repeat in my brain — I recommend them/it highly.

You linked to the Lou Harrison artist page. Is there any particular release you recommend?
Welcome to it. Let the games begin.
I’ve been wondering what all the hullabaLOU is about…
ZING!
In “all” “seriousness,” I’m excited to check it out.
Frank,
So I tried responding to your question at least four times from my home computer last night, but I ended up engaging in an epic battle with a spam filter that was determined not to let me through. I was trying to post a link to the gamelan/string quartets album I talk about in the post, but since I couldn’t seem to get through I updated the link in the post.
Here it is again if you missed it:

Welcome aboard, Jayson!
And for the record, beards are awesome.
Welcome to my favorite combo classical geek/hip-hop head in the game.
