Attempts to locate a version minus subtitles were unsuccessful, but the performance outshines the mode of delivery.

That’s a great clip Joe and a great way to celebrate a fantastic musician.

There was a wonderful documentary about the history of Stax on BBC4 a couple of weeks ago: I was hoping to link to it, but BBC iPlayer doesn’t seem to have it.

My love of Isaac Hayes’ music was primarily nourished by its widespread availability on eMusic. It is an oeuvre that repays extensive exploration. I regret that i never got to see him live in concert. R.I.P.

Anna, I saw that same doco and it was very good although hard to follow at times who was who. Good none the less and I bookmarked quite a few Stax albums as a result.

In a horrible coincidence, comedian Bernie Mac, who Isaac just acted along side died a few days before. Two massive black icons within a week. Very sad.
