feed the animals

Not quite the HEADLINE NEWS it woulda been in a pre-In Rainbows world, schizo mash-up dude Greg Gillis (aka Girl Talk) has unleashed his newest plunderfest Feed the Animals on the world as a pay-what-you-want download. Despite being beat to the (sucker) punch by Radiohead, the internet is still a-buzzin’ about the quick-release.
On first listen, it’s pretty much Night Ripper II. Which is to say: radio-rap, ’80s and indie rock tossed in a party-jam blender. He gives the samples a little more room to breathe this time around, but it’s still a relative whiplash ride.
Most amazingly, perhaps, is the quickness that Girl Talk nerds compiled a completely comprehensive wiki page detailing every sample used (and at what second they appear) on FTA. Check it out here: Feed the Animals (Wiki).

And before anyone asks, no, we don’t know if we will get it.
He picked a really smart pricing scheme. He made it easy for people to talk themselves up to paying more (”It’s just a few dollars more for the FLAC files…”). At least, that’s what going through my head.
I paid extra for the single mixed track. my old ipod doesn’t play gapless audio. great record. i hope it’s a success.
@Jason – That is exactly what happened to me, “Hmm…$5 for FLAC? Sold!”
Perfectly irrelevant, I just had to say that especially in the above photo Mr. Girl Talk is quite the looker.
That is pretty much what Trent Reznor did for the Saul Williams release and subsequent NIN releases. You could download lower quality files for free or pay $5 to get your choice of high quality MP3, FLAC or Apple Lossless.
