sxsw, selects
11Mar08

Hey everyone. So I will be hopping on a plane to Austin for SXSW here shortly, but I wanted to point out that the second installment of eMusic Selects is LIVE. The two picks are Susu, a mathy Brooklyn band, and Hands on Heads, this exuberant London art-punk band. We like the two records quite a bit, so give them a spin today!
Also, you can expect daily posts from us at SXSW about what we’re seeing, etc. There should be some interesting stuff to discuss! We will let you know. Thx. XOXOXO

Head ups / Heads up / Head ups..
Here are some new releases on here that are sweet.
Andrew Bird - Soldier On - This is a collection of reworked recording and various odds and sods from a great singer song violiner.
Hands On Heads ( as mentioned)
Postmarks have put out their 3rd single its a cover of Bob Marley’s “Three LIttle Birds.” Its free so hook it up kids. Ladies love it. In the same vein as Bebel Gilberto light pop with a smooth touch of elegance.
Susu (as mentioned)
William Basinski dropped a bunch of stuff. His big album is split into 4 parts and is called disintegration loops volume 1 - 4. PITCHFORK gave it a 9.4 !! Instrumental introspection at its best.
Benni Hemm Hemm - Kajak (bright pop oriented stuff) also there is a single that features Jens Lekman called Skvavars.
Mia Doi Todd - I missed her, she opened up for Jose Gonzalez two weeks back. She has a new album out, the kids seemed to dig her, it could be worth a spin or two.
Storyville/Orchard dropped a bunch of classic jazz guys so you may want to look into that if your a fan of Earl Hines, Louis Armstrong, Ben Webster and a few more…
who loves you! Tape Collector Tooth-Housand does!
