The Ethiopiques series is awesome; #4 (slinky, smoky jazz) and #8 (James Brown funk, Ethiopian style) are my favorites.

I find a lot of good stuff either from playlists or from ‘so-and-so also liked’ references, including:

I don’t have a similar list to share. I don’t actually use the list function very much (or at least I don’t recall doing so). I get enough albums to work from through subscribers, eMu staff, boomkat, npr, etc.
