get mad(villain)

So the excellent Madlib/MF Doom collaboration Madvillain came out almost four years ago, but turns out Stones Throw is still digging up gems. Below is a video for “Accordion” that features Doom in all his metal-masked glory, back when he was still making records and showing up for things. Oh, we were all so innocent then.

METACRITICS’ upcoming release calendar still says that Madvillain was slated to release a new disc in 2007. Obv., didn’t happen. Any word on whether it will happen this year?
I want to believe, but I doubt it. Doom seems to be somewhat off the grid these days. In the meantime, can I recommend the excellent Y Society album?
I’ll check it out. I’ve never heard of it.
Meanwhile, I’m feeling bad about trashing, in comments I posted on another thread, METACRITIC’s upcoming releases list for 2008. Since then, I’ve heard great songs from the forthcoming discs by Sun Kil Moon and Dengue Fever. They give me renewed hope that there will be plenty of good new stuff released this year. I just have to be open to it.
Daedelus on the accordion?
I had no idea…
check out track 8 on this album for the original:

I’d love a good Sun Kil Moon record; I really liked Ghosts of the Great Highway, but wasn’t really feeling the Modest Mouse one.
