extra golden: help our extended family

Yesterday we made live the new album Hera Ma Nono from Extra Golden, a startlingly refreshing and authentic taste of Afro indie-pop (in a time where everyone seems to be going either Balkan or African). It is especially timely because half of the band is from Kenya and everyone in the country has been horribly affected by the political crisis there and the ensuing chaos in the country. As you can read on the band’s website here, the band members make their living playing in clubs in the evening and as there is a curfew, they are unable to work and support their families. A fund has been started to help them through this time and all the band are asking for are $5 contributions. We might not consider how far reaching this community is and how many little ways we can help each other out in times of need. This is an excellent time to remember that and act.
