As for interviews: today we have one with Simone Dinnerstein, whose recording of Bach’s “Goldberg Variations” shot her quickly out of obscurity in 2007. What does Dinnerstein have to say about her rapid ascent? “It wasn’t the plan. Of course, I wanted to do the normal route. But it didn’t work for me. As a child, I had a sensitive way of feeling music, but I wasn’t a prodigy, and I didn’t like practicing. And I just didn’t have the right temperament for competitions. That didn’t work for me —l I don’t like playing in a situation where I’m being judged.”
