Today, find out which album our critics picked as the best record of 2007 (UK subscribers, your Top 10 is here).

Also, check out the next installment in our series of interviews with ‘2007 Innovators.’ Today’s subject: Gogol Bordello’s Eugene Hutz. Choice quote: “Try to find me another live band that kicks our ass. Try to find me a band that evokes more fire. That’s our way of saying, “We are the fucking best!” and of pretty much old-schooling everybody else out of the business.”

Not that you need — or are soliciting — suggestions for future posts, but I’d really like to read the 17 Dots bloggers thoughts on the best, most interesting trends of the year.

I think this has been a great year for new music. I’ve read others who disagree, mostly because, in their view, 2007 lacked some revolutionary, paradigm-shifting trend (e.g., there was no “Smells Like Teen Spirit” breaking into the mainstream and inspiring the grunge movement). Anyway, for that reason, I’m curious to read about where you think contemporary music (of all genres) is headed, and what we might expect in 2008. (n.1)

(n.1) FWIW — not much!, I know — I think the most interesting trends of the year were dubstep, nu-disco (e.g., the “dark disco” of the Italians Do It Better label and the “Italio-disco” of stuff like Sally Shapiro’s Disco Romance) and the developing Balearic sound.
