youthful memories
Today I remembered we have treepeople’s catalog on the site and was able to download one of my fave records of all time Guilt Regret and Embarassment.
My favorite song is the title track and it reminds me of crowded punk shows and dancing and bruises on my knees from getting shoved against the stage. I [...]
breathe owl breathe
Patrick, The New Guy Here (he wrote this nice Mount Eerie post), has been on a rampage of turning us all onto music here in the office. Even Todd likes him! Dude, who is only about 9 years old, seriously knows his stuff, and is deep in The Scene, whether it be Michigan (where he [...]
orbital’s long range
I was checking out the Orbital live album that showed up recently (which is retailing new for a whopping $39.98 at another on-line retailer’s store!) and it led me to another act I hadn’t heard of before. Long Range is the brainchild of Phil Hartnoll of Orbital and Nick Smith, and its pretty freakin [...]
Joe (left) and Todd (right) get their party on
Last and final warning to everyone: tonight is the long-awaited and much-ballyhooed (in my cubicle) 17 Dots Baby Shower, to which you are all cordially invited to attend. Details are pasted below. Can’t wait to meet everyone!
SAY WHAT: 17 Dots Baby Shower
SAY WHEN: Thursday, Nov. 29, 7pm [...]
na: apparat
The beat goes on. We got a host of releases from Shitkatapult today. Some of them are pretty good – most of them are from a name that you already know.
na: after dark, michal ho
Two excellent electronic albums over the past few days. The much-talked about After Dark compilation from the Italians Do It Better label and Michal Ho’s newest, Screw the Coffeemaker.
na: pere ubu, brubeck & bad plus
A leftover’d edition of new arrivals, collecting the many notables that came in over Thanksgiving. Yum!
last chance to vote!
Today is it: the last chance to vote in our end-of-year survey. If you haven’t already done so, please head here and let us know which records mattered to you in 2007.
baby shower details
Hello hello hello. Hope everyone’s holidays were swell. We are indeed back in business here today, with a new arrivals post coming in a little bit (so much good stuff came in!). But first I wanted to updated everyone on this Thursday’s 17 Dots meet-up. Here are the details:

radio silence
You probably assumed this, but just to confirm: 17 Dots will be on a holiday hiatus (barring major new additions to the site) until Monday. Enjoy Thanksgiving, everyone!
na: rough trade and more…
Okie dokie, it’s Rough Trade on eMusic. (And a bunch of other stuff too.)
best-selling
So the list of the best-selling (US) titles on eMusic I previously mentioned is now live. You can take a look here. Hopefully next week we’ll be able to dig in and take a closer look at your reactions, as well as how some particular titles place. (PS: UK and EU versions will be [...]
Dear Yancey,
I realise that despite the physical distance between us, you, I and the rest of the 17 Dots crew communicate pretty well. Indeed we’ve learned a lot from one another - I now know the difference between a dude and a bro, whereas you guys based in New York are picking up British slang [...]
the eMusic taste
There has been an interesting discussion happening on the message boards led by Nereffid under the heading “What Is eMusic’s Taste in Music?” It’s a great question, and one I’ve been thinking quite a bit about as a result.
live: Mt. Eerie, Woelv
Last week I made the long trek from Williamsburg - Brooklyn to Greenpoint - Brooklyn to see my favorite power couple in music, Anacortes, WA’s Mt. Eerie ( Phil Elverum ) and Woelv ( Geneviève Castrée ). Presented by local show pusher Todd P at the overwhelmingly appropriate Lutheran Church of the Messiah, I [...]
na: numbers
sadly not a kraftwerk cover.
I know everyone doesn’t always listen to my electronic recommendations. Or even know what I’m talking about half the time. But here’s one for even the casual fan: the new Booka Shade single!
and now I’ve found you again…
Life has been stressful recently and, today, has left me in a slightly old-fashioned gothic mood. I’m hungry for Edgar Allen Poe, musty perfumes, a railway journey to Paris and strange liqueurs from dust covered bottles. Oddly, the eMusic Europe office lacks all of these things. But I did find Blanche.
So it’s been nine months since we conceived this blog of ours, and we’ve spent a lot of that time getting to know you, our readers, and you getting to know us. And we figure what better way to commemorate that nine month point than with a baby shower of sorts, held in a bar [...]
elections
November means lots of things: turkey, golden leaves and — most importantly — eMusic’s Year-End User Poll. That’s where you come in. Just take a trip over here when you get a spare moment, and cast your ballot for the year’s best records anytime before November 26. We’ll tally ‘em up and roll [...]
ekkehard
While eMusic has some good material made by Ekkehard Ehlers already on the site (namely März’s Wir Sind Hier), we just recently received his solo releases on Staubgold.
They’re better.
