I spent the better part of the weekend walking around New York’s various fantastic parks, taking some much-needed time out to both read and catch up on a few records that had been languishing unplayed on my iPod. Unfashionable though it may be, I still have a sizeable soft spot for Bruce Springsteen, and I wanted to take a few spins through his forthcoming record, Magic, which I’d gotten a hold of late last week. Bruce is major label, obviously, and won’t be showing up on eMusic, but his love of indie bands has been fairly well documented. But nowhere is that more obvious than on the song “Girls in Their Summer Clothes,” which arrives square in the center of the new record. How does this pertain to eMusic? I could be imagining things, but to my ears it sounds to me like the Boss has been listening to a good amount of The Magnetic Fields. A quick spin through Google revealed I was not alone in this assessment. Take a listen to the track, helpfully posted on the Tullycraft blog, and see if you don’t feel the same way.
