Hey everyone. So this has been an annoying 17 Dots week, as every single day the site has gone down for some significant period, including almost all of Wednesday and Thursday. We’ve been looking into the cause. Joe thought, as he always does, that maybe the “webnet was possessed” (he is an amateur exorcist), Todd was convinced it was something he ate and I was 99% sure We Got Too Close To The Truth And Someone Had to Shut Us Down. It ends up, though, that we were all right, in that our hosting server has been having lots of problems. (BUT WHY!??!) Anyway, we’re working on a solution, and we’ll keep posting when we can in the meantime. Thanks for your patience. (PS: Hilariously enough as I tried to post this message last night, 17 Dots went down again. IT DOESN’T WANT YOU TO KNOW WHAT WE KNOW!!!)
I’m not sure if you guys are running on a shared hosting account or not, but I’ve never really liked Dreamhost any way. If you’re using a dedicated server, that would also be weird that the site goes down every day. I’m a Systems Administrator and I work for a Data Center in Minnesota and I’d be more than happy to whore our services to get you guys running smoothly with no outages

for those who don’t know, Fonal is a label out of Finland that specializes in strange and beautiful psychedlic music that should appeal to “new weird america” fans. download whatever you can by Kemialliset Ystvat, Islaja, and Shogun Kunitoki (who are really more like Stereolab than freakfolk). but be sure to make your first, and i mean FIRST PRIORITY “Yha Hamaraa” by Paavoharju, which is surely one of the most beautiful, haunting and flat-out remarkable records i’ve heard in the last… i dunno… let’s cut it off at a decade.
the rest i can’t speak for (until just now these were extremely hard releases to get ahold of, spendy too) but i look forward to exploring more in detail.
