		<description>This is a moving tribute, Anna. I am completely blindsided and left reeling by this loss &#8212; and I grew up in America. I can only imagine the impact overseas. If not for Tony Wilson, some of my favorite records never would have gotten made. His commitment to total independence and creativity &#8212; no matter the cost &#8212; was absolutely inspiring. How many other people would agree to packaging so extravagant that the label actually &lt;i&gt;took a loss&lt;/i&gt; every time they sold one? &lt;i&gt;That's&lt;/i&gt; dedication to quality, to hell with the bottom line.

I listened to "Atmosphere" and raised a glass to the man last night.  The only consolation I get &#8212; and I say this as a strict atheist &#8212; is imagining what Martin Hannett is going to say when he gets a look at who's strolling through the gates...</description>
