“no earthly idea”
10Aug07
As you have probably seen mentioned elsewhere, President Bush was asked at a public event in Nashville to discuss royalty rates for performing artists and how the US government handles them. In response to the question, Bush admitted he had “no earthly idea” what the person was asking about. Here’s an irrelevant but fun bit of trivia, though: the man that asked that question was Al McCree, an incredibly nice man who runs Altissimo! Records, an eMusic label specializing in military and marching band music. The more you know.

Ummmm . . . wait but. . . oh damn!!!! He (Bush) is foolish, how can you not know what a royalty rate is. Doesn’t he have some books out (at the very least). Why is everyone clapping at the fact that he admits to being stupid (okay I’m clapping too but only because he IS Stupid.
But seriously. . . Did McCree follow up with the office of the president? Were they able to answer the question? Why is Bush so calm about being lumped in with a country that he tried to start a war with (China that is. Chuck D asks what ever happened with that plane (http://www.emusic.com/album/Public-Enemy-Son-Of-A-Bush-MP3-Download/10799831.html) does Bush have any earthly idea about that.)
Why don’t we have mandatory Royalty Rates anyway. Cheers to eMusic for at least giving artists something.
Thanks for the kind words. Yes I did follow up with the White House but no reply as of yet. I expect I will get one eventually. I am sure the White House staff is aware of the issue. Congress is holding hearings. If you are curious, go to http://www.musicfirstcoalition.org/#/home/ For performers, musicians and record labels, this is really a big deal.
Thanks again for the discussion.
