ziltoid the omniscient
Speaking of advance albums, we also got Devin Townsend‘s latest Metal meets Muppets concept album Ziltoid the Omniscient in today. With a storyline straight out of a Douglas Adams novel (Ziltoid the Omniscient battles Captain Spectacular cross-dimensionally when Earth can’t provide a decent cup of joe) and some of the most crisp production I have heard from any of Devin’s solo endeavors, this is definitely one to check out if you don’t take your metal too seriously.
Devin recently announced that he is quiting Strapping Young Lad and moving to a secluded Northern Canadian town to focus on his solo material and will not tour or appear in public at all for future projects. Perhaps he will then appear more often in self produced videos like this one starring Ziltoid.
At any rate, it will be interesting to see what effect relative isolation will have on his musical output. I mean it can’t get much more bizarre than this album, can it?

Only a month later have I finally caved and downloaded this. This video planted the seed that has finally matured. I held onto the video and downloaded the first two tracks and I’m currently blown away. I would have never heard of this had it not been brought up here. I love it!
