A Wednesday morning link dump for you fine folks, with some 17 Dots-endorsed entertainment around the web.

A number of eMusic users have started their own eMusic Magazine, of sorts, called Viral Pop. There’s also a strong message board, great recommendations and a bunch of long-form user reviews. We’re all big fans here at the office, and want to congratulate all of the principals for doing such a great job.

The great indie radio station WOXY has a new blog called the Futurist, and they are offering free live downloads from exclusive WOXY sessions by a number of bands. I tried a few tracks and dug most of what I heard. Link.

Joe passed along a link for a great African MP3 blog, and it’s one I know well — I used to check this thing daily a few years ago, but had totally forgotten about it. The blog is called Benn loxo du taccu, and the curation over there is spectacular.

Came across this today, and although 17 Dots fulfills most of its instructions, it’s a good reality-check read anyway: Tom Johnson’s Twenty Usability Tips for Your Blog — Condensed from Dozens of Bloggers’ Experiences.

I am a huge sports fan — it’s pretty close to music in terms of my loves — and I’ve had to keep myself from sharing some of the great sports blogs out there with you folks because I’m not sure how great the interest would be. This selection, however, has a very broad appeal: Both Teams Played Hard’s 50 Best NBA Commercials of All Time. I highly recommend #37. Very tasteful.

    Hey Yancey,

Came across this interview that provides the music/sports connection you’re looking for:

It’s an ESPN interview with Geddy Lee about fantasy baseball and his world-class memorabilia collection. I’m guessing you’re not a Rush fan, but I got a big kick out of it. Rush is about the only band from my high school days that I still consistently listen to.
