high voltage
Here’s what I know about Killed By 9V Batteries:
1) They are from Austria.
2) Their name is apparently a reference to an inane quip from the lead vocalist of Nickelback.
3) If their MySpace page is to be believed, they’ve been frickeling since 2002.
4) Their debut is impossible to resist.
I’ve been despairing a little over indie rock’s growing politeness, but KB9VB (as I’ve decided they like to be called) is all growl and grit, a fantastic throwback to the abrasive indie of the mid-90s. their vocalist, wolfgang mostl, has the prattle and pout down pat, and the songs are volatile without being tuneless.
What’s more: they have made a thoroughly charming video for “Extra Extended Expressions,” which, in addition to featuring a puppet chopping potatoes, contains the most adorable reference to Un Chien Andalou I’ve ever seen.
Watch:

you neglected to mention that they sound just like sebadoh on bakesale. (what has two thumbs…)
Your introductory image reminded me of the end of this video, and I couldn’t resist sharing the comic genius of infinite solutions.
OK, so we can’t embed video: Here is a link:

you know, i was wondering what you meant by your initial post, and i re-watched the end of the Killed by 9V video like 5 times thinking “surely I must be missing something.” this makes everything muuuuuuuuch clearer. on a related note: i have never seen this series of videos before, and am in awe.
THe google tv video totally got me. It wasn’t until I saw the battery one that I realized what was going on: “it’s called electrical tape, because it conducts electricity” hah.
thx4 the compliments, guys!
